Only plain water goes in with aligners fitted. Hot drinks can distort the plastic, and coffee, karak, tea and anything colored will stain both the aligner and the debris trapped underneath it. Take them out to eat or drink, then brush or at least rinse thoroughly before reinserting — sugar held against enamel by a sealed aligner is how patients develop cavities during treatment. Keep a case, a travel toothbrush and a small bottle of water in your bag. That one habit protects both your wear time and your enamel.

Severely rotated or impacted teeth and large vertical movements are also harder for aligners alone. Do I have to wear retainers forever?

Yes, in some form — this is the part patients most often underestimate. Teeth keep a lifelong tendency to drift back toward their old positions, and retention is what prevents it. The usual pattern is full-time wear for the first few months, then nights only, indefinitely. Many patients also have a thin fixed wire bonded behind the lower front teeth. Retainers are included with our current offer, and replacement sets are AED 1,200–2,500. Treating retention as optional is the most common reason people need a second course of aligners years later.

What happens if I lose or break an aligner?

Never leave the space empty: a few days with no aligner allows relapse, and the next set may then not seat. Keep your previous aligner instead of discarding it, and carry the next set when you travel.

Smoking also slows gum healing and raises periodontal risk, which matters more while teeth are actively moving. If you smoke, rinse and brush before reinserting, and be realistic with us about how many hours your aligners are genuinely in.
