What to Do Before You Arrive
Follow these first aid steps while you make your way to us.
Knocked-Out Tooth
- Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root
- Rinse gently with water — do NOT scrub
- Place in milk or hold between cheek and gum
- Seek dental care within 30 minutes for best outcome
Severe Toothache
- Rinse with warm salt water
- Use over-the-counter pain relief as directed
- Apply a cold compress to your cheek
- Do NOT place aspirin directly on the gum
Broken or Chipped Tooth
- Rinse your mouth with warm water
- Apply gentle pressure if there is bleeding
- Save any large broken pieces
- Contact us as soon as possible to arrange a repair
Lost Crown or Filling
- Keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side
- Temporarily cover exposed tooth with dental cement (pharmacy)
- Do not use super glue
- See us as soon as possible to prevent further damage
