What to Do Before You Arrive

Follow these first aid steps while you make your way to us.

Knocked-Out Tooth

  • Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root
  • Rinse gently with water — do NOT scrub
  • Place in milk or hold between cheek and gum
  • Seek dental care within 30 minutes for best outcome

Severe Toothache

  • Rinse with warm salt water
  • Use over-the-counter pain relief as directed
  • Apply a cold compress to your cheek
  • Do NOT place aspirin directly on the gum

Broken or Chipped Tooth

  • Rinse your mouth with warm water
  • Apply gentle pressure if there is bleeding
  • Save any large broken pieces
  • Contact us as soon as possible to arrange a repair

Lost Crown or Filling

  • Keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side
  • Temporarily cover exposed tooth with dental cement (pharmacy)
  • Do not use super glue
  • See us as soon as possible to prevent further damage
