Your Complete Guide

Why treating a cavity early matters

A cavity never repairs itself. What begins as a small soft spot in the enamel works its way steadily toward the nerve, and the treatment required grows with it: a shallow cavity needs one short visit, while neglected decay can end in root canal treatment or a crown. Dubai's grazing culture — sweetened karak, iced lattes on the commute, snacks at the desk through long office hours — keeps teeth bathed in sugar for much of the day, which is exactly how early decay accelerates. Booking a filling promptly is the most conservative restorative decision you can make.

How it works at Paradise Dental

Diagnosis starts with a free first consultation on the 22nd floor of Burj Al Salam Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, a five-minute walk from World Trade Centre Metro. Your dentist uses an intraoral camera to show you the cavity magnified on screen, supported by digital x-rays where needed, so you can see exactly why treatment is recommended before agreeing to anything. Our DHA-licensed clinicians and multilingual team explain your options in plain language, and most fillings are completed in a single appointment of under an hour — realistic for a lunch break if you work along Sheikh Zayed Road, in DIFC, or near the World Trade Centre.

The procedure step by step

  1. Numbing. Local anesthetic ensures the tooth and surrounding gum are fully asleep before anything else happens.
  2. Decay removal. Only softened, infected tissue is removed; healthy enamel and dentin stay in place.
  3. Shade selection. The resin is matched to your tooth under neutral lighting so the restoration blends in.
  4. Etching and bonding. A conditioning gel and adhesive prepare the surface so the resin fuses to the tooth.
  5. Layering and curing. The material is placed in thin increments, each hardened with a curing light — this controls shrinkage and builds a natural depth of color.
  6. Shaping and polishing. Your bite is checked with marking paper, adjusted, and polished to a smooth gloss.

Recovery and aftercare in Dubai

There is no downtime. Wait until the numbness fades before eating, and expect possible mild sensitivity to cold for a few days — worth remembering in a city where iced drinks are a survival strategy most of the year. Sensitivity that persists beyond two weeks, or a bite that feels "high," warrants a quick, simple adjustment visit. Routine brushing, daily flossing, and six-monthly checkups protect the margins of the restoration; we inspect every filling at each checkup, and your treatment is backed by our 12-month guarantee.

When a filling is not enough

Composite is ideal for small and medium cavities, but very large defects need more structural support:

RestorationBest suited forVisits
Composite fillingSmall to medium cavities1
Ceramic inlay/onlayLarger cavities with intact walls1 with CEREC
Full crownHeavily broken-down or cracked teeth1–2

If decay has already reached the nerve, a filling alone will not resolve the pain — root canal treatment comes first. Where a tooth is too damaged for direct composite, our in-house CEREC system can mill a ceramic crown or onlay in a single visit.

Cost and insurance in Dubai

The fee for a filling depends on how many surfaces of the tooth are involved, how deep the decay runs, the tooth's position in the mouth, and whether an old restoration must be removed first. You receive a written quote after your examination — no mid-treatment surprises — and current ranges are published on our pricing page. We bill Daman, AXA, Cigna, Bupa Global, Allianz Care, Oman Insurance, Neuron, Nextcare, and Mednet directly (MetLife by reimbursement), and interest-free payment plans are available through Tabby, Tamara, and Postpay.
