Invisalign Types Explained: Which Package Fits Your Case?

The five Invisalign packages, in plain terms

Every Invisalign package uses the same clear SmartTrack material, the same 20–22 hours a day wear requirement, and the same digital planning system. What changes is scope: the number of aligner stages included, the treatment window, and therefore the complexity of movement the package can handle.

• Invisalign Express — the shortest package. A limited number of stages, aimed at small corrections and relapse cases.
• Invisalign Lite — a mid-range package for mild-to-moderate cases that need more than cosmetic tidying but not a full arch rebuild.
• Invisalign Comprehensive — unlimited aligners within the treatment period. This is the package for complex crowding, bite correction, and cases needing extractions or long-range movement.
• Invisalign Teen — Comprehensive-level scope with features built for growing mouths: eruption tabs for teeth still coming through, extra space allowance for second molars, and blue compliance indicators that fade with wear.
• Invisalign First — designed for children in the mixed dentition stage, still holding a combination of baby and adult teeth. It focuses on arch development and creating space, often before any teenage treatment is even considered.

How we decide which package you need

This is the part most people get wrong. Patients often arrive asking for Express because it costs less, or for Comprehensive because it sounds more thorough. Neither is how the decision is made.

The package is determined by the ClinCheck treatment plan — the 3D simulation built from your iTero scan. Here is the actual sequence:

1. Free consultation and clinical exam. Our orthodontist assesses your bite, gum health, and tooth position. Active decay or gum disease is treated before any aligner therapy begins.
2. iTero digital scan. No impression trays. A handheld scanner builds a precise 3D model of both arches in a few minutes.
3. 3D CBCT imaging where indicated. For cases involving root position, impacted teeth, or jaw relationships, we image before planning rather than discovering problems mid-treatment.
4. ClinCheck simulation. We map every planned movement, stage by stage, and the software reports how many aligner stages the plan requires.
5. Package match. The stage count and complexity determine the package. A plan needing 11 stages of front-tooth alignment is an Express case. A plan needing 34 stages with premolar extraction is a Comprehensive case. The software and the clinical need decide — not preference, and not budget.
6. Written quote and timeline. You see the simulated outcome, the exact package, the total cost, and the payment options before you commit to anything.

If your case sits on a borderline — and plenty do — we will explain what each option can and cannot achieve, including the risk that an under-scoped package runs out of aligners before the result is finished. Refinement aligners are common and expected; running out of scope is not the same thing.

Where the current offer fits

Our current Invisalign offer starts from AED 8,000 to AED 10,000, and includes the initial consultation, professional cleaning, teeth whitening, and retainers at no extra charge.

Be clear about what it maps to: the simpler case types. Cases that resolve with a limited number of aligner stages — the Express end of the spectrum, and some shorter Lite plans — are what this pricing is built for. Complex cases requiring unlimited aligners, extractions, or long treatment windows are quoted separately after the scan, because the laboratory cost and clinical time genuinely scale with the case.

Choosing between Teen and Comprehensive for a younger patient

Age alone does not decide this. A 16-year-old with all permanent teeth erupted and no further growth expected may be treated on a Comprehensive plan. A 13-year-old with second molars still emerging needs the eruption tabs and space allowance that only Invisalign Teen provides.

The compliance indicators on Teen aligners are more useful than they sound. They fade with wear time, giving parents an honest read on whether the 20–22 hour target is being met — a genuinely helpful feature during exam terms, Ramadan schedule changes, or a summer spent between Dubai and family abroad.

Practical considerations for Dubai patients

A few things that shape package choice locally:

• Travel schedules. Expat families often leave the UAE for extended summer breaks. Longer Comprehensive plans need appointment timing planned around that from the start, and we build the schedule accordingly rather than reacting to it.
• Heat and hydration. Dubai summers mean constant water intake — which is fine with aligners in. Everything else comes out first. Frequent karak or iced coffee habits are a bigger compliance risk than the heat itself, since each drink means removing, rinsing, and reseating.
• Insurance. Orthodontic coverage varies widely by policy, and many UAE dental plans limit or exclude orthodontics entirely, or treat shorter and full-arch treatment differently. • Installments. Tabby, Tamara and Postpay let you spread the cost interest-free, subject to provider approval, which sometimes makes the clinically correct package affordable when a compromise would have been tempting.
