Braces prices in Dubai vary more than most people expect, and headline figures rarely tell you what is included. This guide sets out typical 2026 ranges by appliance, what moves the price and how to compare quotes fairly.

2026 typical price ranges by appliance

ApplianceTypical rangeTypical treatment time
Metal bracesAED 6,000–12,00018–30 months
Ceramic bracesAED 8,000–15,00018–30 months
Self-ligating bracesQuoted after assessmentSimilar to conventional braces
Lingual bracesQuoted after assessmentVaries with the case
Retainers (set)AED 1,200–2,500Fitted at the end

Metal braces are the most economical fixed option and can handle almost every type of tooth movement. Ceramic braces work the same way but use tooth-coloured brackets, which cost more to make and are slightly larger and more fragile, so they sit higher in the range. Self-ligating braces use brackets with a built-in clip instead of elastic ties and are usually priced above conventional metal braces. Lingual braces are bonded to the inside of the teeth and are usually the most expensive fixed option, for the reasons covered in the questions below. The price list shows every treatment, and the braces page describes the treatment.

What drives the price

  • Complexity. Crowding, spacing, bite problems and cases needing extractions or jaw correction all take more planning and more visits.
  • Treatment length. A longer case means more adjustment appointments and more wires.
  • The appliance. As the table shows, appearance and bracket design change the cost.
  • One arch or two. Treating only the upper or lower teeth usually costs less, where that is clinically appropriate.
  • Work needed first. Fillings, a professional cleaning or extractions may be needed before braces go on and are priced separately; a simple extraction, for example, is typically AED 400–900.
  • Retention. Retainers are part of the treatment, and whether they are included varies.
  • Who plans and supervises the case, and how much time is allowed at each visit.

What a braces quote should include

Ask for a written quote that states whether each of these is included:

  • Records: photographs, scans or impressions, and X-rays
  • Fitting of the braces on one or both arches
  • All adjustment visits for the whole treatment, not a fixed number
  • Emergency visits for a broken bracket or a poking wire
  • Removal of the braces and polishing of the teeth
  • Retainers, and the cost of replacements later
  • What happens, and what it costs, if treatment runs longer than planned

Paying for braces: instalments and insurance

Because treatment runs for many months, some clinics spread the fee over the course of treatment; ask what the schedule is and whether it changes the total. Some patients use buy-now-pay-later services, explained in the guide to paying for treatment in Dubai.

Insurance is the part that most often disappoints. Many UAE policies treat orthodontics separately from routine dental care: adult orthodontics is often excluded, cover for children may be capped as a lifetime amount, and pre-approval is commonly required. Check your policy before treatment starts; the dental insurance guide explains the terms to look for.

Braces vs Invisalign on price

TreatmentTypical range
Metal bracesAED 6,000–12,000
Ceramic bracesAED 8,000–15,000
Invisalign ExpressAED 8,500–12,000
Invisalign LiteAED 12,000–17,000
Invisalign ComprehensiveAED 17,000–28,000
Invisalign TeenAED 16,000–24,000

For a like-for-like full treatment, metal braces are usually the lower-cost option, while short aligner treatments for mild cases can overlap with braces prices. The right choice depends on the bite problem, not only the price: the Invisalign vs braces comparison weighs the clinical trade-offs, and the Invisalign cost page explains aligner pricing.

How to compare two quotes

  1. Check that both quotes are for the same appliance and the same number of arches.
  2. Compare the estimated treatment length; a much shorter estimate may mean a more limited result.
  3. Line up what each includes, using the checklist above.
  4. Ask how many visits are included and what an extra visit costs.
  5. Ask about retainers: which type, how many, and the replacement cost.
  6. Compare the total, not the deposit or the monthly figure.

Common questions

Why do lingual braces cost more?

They are custom-made to fit the back surface of each tooth, and fitting and adjusting them takes longer because the dentist works on the inside of the arch. That extra laboratory and chair time is reflected in the price.

Are ceramic braces worth the extra cost?

For people who want their braces to be less noticeable, often adults and older teenagers, many find the difference worthwhile. The elastic ties around ceramic brackets can pick up stains from coffee, tea and curries between visits, and the brackets are slightly more fragile, so they are not the right choice for everyone.

Does insurance in Dubai pay for adult braces?

Often not. Many policies exclude adult orthodontics or treat it as cosmetic, and some cover children only up to a set age, with a lifetime cap. Check the orthodontic section of your policy and ask about pre-approval.

Are retainers included in the braces price?

It depends on the clinic, so ask. Retainers are essential after braces, and a set is typically AED 1,200–2,500 when priced separately. The living with braces guide covers life during treatment, and the adult braces guide covers starting treatment later in life.

Practical decision guide

Orthodontics works by controlled tooth movement over time. The best plan balances alignment, bite correction, gum safety, compliance, and lifelong retention rather than chasing the shortest timeline.

Check this first

  • Bite classification, crowding, gum thickness, jaw growth, wisdom teeth, and any history of relapse.
  • Whether aligners, braces, expanders, elastics, or a combined cosmetic plan is most predictable.
  • The retention plan after treatment, because teeth continue to move throughout life.

When to book sooner

  • A child has crossbite, severe crowding, mouth-breathing habits, thumb sucking, trauma risk, or jaw asymmetry.
  • Aligners are not tracking, attachments are lost, elastics are not being worn, or teeth feel unusually mobile.
  • You are considering direct-to-consumer aligners without in-person periodontal and x-ray assessment.

Topic-specific notes

  • For cost decisions, compare itemised treatment plans rather than headline prices. The clinically important inclusions are diagnosis, imaging, material choice, temporaries, follow-up, maintenance, and what happens if treatment needs revision.
  • For orthodontics, compliance and retention are part of the treatment, not afterthoughts. If aligners, elastics, or retainers are not worn as prescribed, the biology will not follow the digital plan.
  • For material choices, ask why that material fits the tooth location, bite force, aesthetics, allergy history, repairability, and expected lifespan.

Questions to ask at the appointment

  • What is the real treatment goal: cosmetic alignment, bite correction, or both?
  • How many refinement stages are included, and what happens if teeth do not track?
  • Will I need fixed, removable, or combined retainers after treatment?

Dubai patient note

For Dubai orthodontic treatment, ask whether the provider is DHA-licensed as an orthodontist or is a general dentist providing aligners, and confirm what is included in the quoted fee.
